Our picks

NINAGAWA Mika: Captive Blooms

The Photographers’ Gallery, Soho · Through Jun 1

Projected across Soho after dark and stretched along its streets by day, Captive Blooms turns goldfish, blossoms, water and city light into a saturated dreamscape poised between spectacle and the fragility of everyday life.

A Moment for Eternity

Hauser & Wirth, West End · Through Mar 21

Five artist-makers bring work in clay, stitch, wood, porcelain, glass, and photography to subjects of time, nature, and human connection. Their materials are worked stitch by stitch, with camera shutters, chisels, and drops of liquid clay.

Annie Whiles: Doorway Guardians

Matt's Gallery, South London · Through Dec 18

Whiles’s three large woodcarvings combine British seaside imagery with the media and methods of sacred painted medieval carvings. They stand between 150 and 185cm tall and weigh between 160 and 250kg.

Frida: The Making of an Icon

Tate Modern, South London · Through Jan 3

More than thirty works by Kahlo appear with garments, jewellery, photographs and memorabilia, introducing her as a dedicated wife, intellectual, modern artist, and political activist. The final section gathers more than 200 commercial objects encompassing her art, image, style, and persona.

Last chance

Jesús Rafael Soto: Pénétrable BBL Jaune

Serpentine South Gallery, West End · Closed Oct 25

Serpentine brings Soto’s kinetic practice into the park through a field of yellow PVC strands suspended from a steel grid. Viewers are invited to enter the sculpture, turning movement, touch, and changing perspective into the work’s material.
