Annette Hur creates visual narratives of objecthood of the female individual taking in its stride inner confidence to destroy the false nature of inherited traditional culture and leap into the unknown. By working with abstraction through mixed media and Korean silk textiles, Hur explores the universality of gendered ideologies that subconsciously manipulates and subverts socio-sexual identities and how societal projections are embedded in our body and mind.

Sarah Lee revitalises the age-old tradition of landscape painting, infusing it with a contemporary twist that transcends the conventional dichotomy of figuration and abstraction. Her surreal, cartoonish landscapes, reminiscent of fairytale backdrops, exude an eerie vacancy, suggesting a deliberate erasure of figures or objects, leaving behind a captivating sense of intrigue and wonder.

Annette Hur (b. 1984, Seoul, KR) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Hur received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015 and her MFA from Columbia University in 2019. Additionally, Lee studied Education at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, KR in 2008. Sarah Lee (b. 1988, Seoul, KR) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Lee received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011 and her MFA from the same institution in 2017. Additionally, Lee studied painting at Seoul National University in 2014.
