Elbert Hubbard coined the clichéd term “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” suggesting that the lemon’s least friendly quality—its bitterness—can be made good, with a bit of ingenuity.

The lemonade stand, at its root, is a representation of capitalism, and in particular, of entrepreneurship. The concept of the lemonade stand has not changed much since its conception almost 130 years ago, and has come to represent a cheerfully optimistic stab at self-employment for those too young to be wary of it.

In this rare circumstance, the exchange of goods inherently lends itself to fostering positive relationships between those giving and receiving. This event will be an ode to childhood ambition through producing a creative exchange in which to positively question the practices of making, exhibiting, and engaging.
