More from Rosha Yaghmai on Gallop

I had originally written a press release that talked about my sleepless nights and the walks I take. The sleepless nights are a symptom of my anxiety and as a result a feeling of isolation. In lieu of the recent election results, I felt compelled to scrap my original text and address these themes directly. This show is about alienation.

Cleopatra’s is proud to present Night Walker, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles based artist, Rosha Yaghmai. The exhibition is comprised of 4 new works: a pair of silicone screens, alongside cast and assemblage sculptures. The works included in the exhibition result from her continued interest in the psychedelic and out of body experience- using foreignness, transformation and estrangement as a way to open up the possibility of a connection to other temporalities. This will be Yaghmai’s first show in New York. All works are from 2016.

Rosha Yaghmai lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She received her MFA from CalArts in 2007.
