Sargent’s Daughters is pleased to present Delegation, a solo exhibition of Wendy Red Star, in conjunction with the artist’s forthcoming monograph of the same title, published by Aperture and Documentary Arts. Red Star (Apsáalooke (Crow)) is a photographer and multimedia artist whose photography recasts historical narratives with wit, candor, and a feminist, Indigenous perspective. This exhibition presents new work produced for the Aperture publication, as well as works from the last several years that have never been shown in New York.

Red Star centers Native American life and material culture through imaginative self-portraiture, vivid collages, archival interventions, and site-specific installations. Whether referencing nineteenth-century Crow leaders or 1980s pulp fiction, museum collections or family pictures, her practice questions the role of the photographer in shaping Indigenous representation.
