Galerie Patrick Seguin London is pleased to present a new exhibition this fall featuring furniture and elements of architecture by Jean Prouvé along with pieces of contemporary art.

Since its opening in October 2015, Galerie Patrick Seguin London has staged exhibitions highlighting important 20th century French works of design and architecture. Art & Industrie continues in this tradition, while seamlessly integrating iconic pieces of furniture and architectural elements by Jean Prouvé with works of contemporary art by British artist Adam McEwen. The combination of these realms illustrates the increasingly blurred lines between them and the dynamic synergy that is created when they come together. Among the design pieces the Métropole no. 305 Chair (ca. 1950), the Flavigny no. 504 Table (ca. 1951), and the Porthole Panel (ca. 1951) by Jean Prouvé, shown above, will be presented.

The exhibition also marks the rerelease of the 750 page Jean Prouvé Double Volume, featuring a new chapter devoted to Prouvé’s architecture, up-to-date images of private international collections, and a catalogue of exhibitions organized by the gallery from 1990 to 2017. As in the 2007 edition, the publication includes texts and interviews with architects and historians, and extensive furniture chapters detailing the different models of Prouvé’s furniture with both contemporary images and archival plans and photos.

Galerie Patrick Seguin, specialized in 1950s French design, has been presenting the work of French designers Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier and Jean Royère since its creation in Paris in 1989. Particularly focused on the work of Jean Prouvé, Galerie Patrick Seguin has worked strenuously to promote not only his furniture but also his demountable architecture, and today has the largest collection of these houses. The gallery has also developed an important line of monographic works to accompany its exhibitions, with the Jean Prouvé Double Volume as its most recent publication. In October 2015, Galerie Patrick Seguin opened a second space in Mayfair, London.
