The room is the world and is the inside of the house

Once inside the room contains the world and the house and the container is all at once

Donna Dennis' work speaks to the containers of hierarchy that come with feeling in a place. A place that is as separate from reality as the work which invites you in but is too small to enter

As a self taught architect Donna's work started on canvas and slowly became more dimensional until eventually the scaffolding of the painting surface became walls. Working with light and the inimitable presence of architecture, her work brings expressions of her memories of physical space and also a poetic sense solitude.

Donna Dennis was born in 1942. She lives and works in Germantown, New York.
