GNYP Gallery will be presenting new art works by the American Artist Gina Beavers.
The artist deals in her solo exhibition Ambitchous with the digital in uences in our society, particularly with the self- con dence of women.
She plays with the content of the platforms like Instagram (her images ts perfectly into the format), which suggests/implies that beauty, lifestyle and consumption are the key to success. Food and the beauty culture are portrayed as an object of desire. They are similar small works of art. Beavers takes the ideals of make-up tutorials, which meet us in their almost 3-dimensional presence. In addition of these make-up tutorials, the ambivalent characters, like Cruella de Vil or Beetlejuice, are skilfully staged from our childhood. Negative characters become positive gures that stand for self-assertion instead of self-hate.
In doing so, she doesn’t allow the viewer to rest, confronting them with their narcissistic self and the obviously masquerade of beauty ideals.

GNYP Gallery zeigt vom 11.
