What happens to a community when the places that hold its memories disappear?

We are pleased to present Omoetheria, an exhibition of photography and film by Alexios Seilopoulos at Beyond Studio, curated by Marisa Bellani.

Returning to Athens after twenty years away, Seilopoulos turns his lens towards the people and spaces threatened by the city’s transformation. From the remains of a demolished nightclub to the energy of a queer cabaret, his work traces places of desire, resistance and belonging.

At the heart of the exhibition is National Cruising, a series of nine photographs capturing nocturnal encounters in Athens’ National Garden. Alongside these images, the nine-minute film Omoetheria takes viewers on a night-time journey through the city, exploring the performance of identity and masculinity.

Intimate and politically charged, the exhibition considers how photography and film can preserve the memory of a changing city.
