Galerie Patrick Seguin London is pleased to announce its first “Carte Blanche”.
In homage to the city of London, the gallery has decided to present works by prominent British artists Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud that stand apart from any contemporary art movements.
In an era principally championing abstraction, each of these artists shared a passionate commitment to scrutinising life and to showing the essence of what they saw.
The different paintings, selected with Ivor Braka, highlight the emphasis on the possibilities of what paint can do to approximate reality and a belief in the power of oil paint shared by all three artists at a time when conceptual art was to the fore.

La Galerie Patrick Seguin a le plaisir d’annoncer sa première "Carte Blanche" dans son espace londonien.
En hommage à la ville de Londres, la galerie présente des oeuvres des éminents artistes anglais que sont Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon et Lucian Freud, tous trois indépendants de tout mouvement de l’art contemporain.
À une époque où l’abstraction dominait, ces artistes partageaient un engagement passionné pour une observation minutieuse de la vie et pour en exprimer leur vision.
Ces oeuvres, choisies avec Ivor Braka, soulignent les possibilités qu’offre la peinture pour représenter la réalité et la conviction partagée par ces trois artistes du pouvoir de la peinture à l’huile, à l’heure où régnait l’art conceptuel.
