Maxi Thom
Oct 1 – Oct 31, 2026
Haverkampf Leistenschneider is delighted to introduce Maxi Thom, a compelling emerging voice within the contemporary Berlin painting scene. Currently completing his studies at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee under Prof. Friederike Feldmann and Prof. Nader Ahriman, Thom’s practice centers on the intricate nuances of human relationality.
His dense, expressive compositions operate in the threshold between proximity and distance, intimacy and alienation. Drawing conceptual lines from the choreographic vernacular of Pina Bausch to the interior depths of Édouard Vuillard, Thom translates fleeting physical gestures into complex painterly layers. His figures continuously negotiate their presence within ambiguous spaces, offering a visceral exploration of emotional states that resist linguistic definition. Thom’s work marks a sophisticated contribution to contemporary figuration—capturing the profound vulnerabilities and tensions of the human condition.
