As famously stated by Audre Lorde “the erotic is a resource within each of us that lies in a deeply female and spiritual plane, firmly rooted in the power of our unexpressed or unrecognized feeling.” Woś invites us to dwell on this erotic power that can be used as a tool for empowerment as well as subordination.

Joanna Woś (b. 1991 in Poland) lives and works in Vienna. Selected group shows include: I saw the other side of the sun with you at Cromwell Place, London and Obsession I at Echo in Cologne with Wschód (both 2023); Der Radwechsel, Heiligenkreuzerhof, Vienna (2022); Nothing is left to chance, Wschód Warsaw (2022); Portraiture One Century Apart at Massimo De Carlo in Milan and Common Nocturnes at Simone Subal in New York (both 2021). Solo exhibitions include: Precious and Tender at Croy Nielsen, Vienna (2022) and Sweat at Wschód, Warsaw (2020).
