Catherine Telford Keogh

ILY2 is proud to present Feed, our first solo exhibition with Catherine Telford Keogh. The works on view reflect an ongoing interest in labor and industrial efficiency, while asking messier questions about how bodies are forced to adapt to rhythms imposed on them, how we learn to see something as "clean" or "dirty," and how much goes unaccounted in the futile pursuit to catalog ourselves and our surroundings.

A disc pinned over a disc, a window cut in the upper one, figures round the rim so that bringing two of them into line brings a third into view: a volvelle, from volvere, to turn. Its ancestors were brass and astronomical, a plate turned over a plate to model the rotation of the sky. Its descendants are paper and come free with purchase. Tide wheels, dosage wheels, drill-speed wheels, ration wheels, a wheel for the date of Easter, which is a wheel for knowing when to fast, and a wheel that took the numerical value of a sick man's name and the day of the moon and calculated an answer: recovery or death.

Catherine Telford Keogh (b. 1986, Toronto, Canada)lives and works in New York. She was the inaugural recipient of the Guggenheim Visual Arts Award in 2025. Telford Keogh was a recent Fellow at Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, N.Y., and was long-listed for the Sobey Art Award. Keogh holds an MFA in Sculpture from the Yale School of Art and an MA in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Yale University.
