Housing is pleased to participate in NADA Miami 2020 with an online viewing room as well as a physical presentation in the gallery.

Housing presents a series of new works by artists Shani Strand and Nathaniel Oliver, on view in New York City. In a liminal space adjacent to life after disaster, these paintings and sculptures contain fantasy and materiality. Shani Strand continues to traverse spaces known and unknown, all inevitable productions of cultural creolization. Oliver considers how veracity both builds and dismantles spaces, searching for a place to rest--if that is even accessible. Above all, these investigations consider Earth and its destruction insofar as it may lead to productivity.

Shani Strand (b. 1995 in New York, NY and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey) works with various materials to create objects and installations that fantasize about spaces known and unknown, but inevitable productions of cultural creolization. She plays with local vernacular and globalized language to explore the hybridity that appears in most cultures, but specifically out of post-colonial conditions.

Nathaniel Oliver (b. Washington, DC, 1996) is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in New York City. His practice in painting, sculpture, performance, video, and installations focuses on veracity not being absolute. Guided by perspective, he challenges the normality of the world in which we live. In this digital world, fact is manipulated and cropped to its beneficiary. Conversely, veracity both builds and dismantles spaces. His works reflect the literal and metaphorical experiences that he has come to comprehend and the attestation of him being there.
