Passionate about semiology and abstract interpretation of American culture and 90s’ popular culture, this French artist draws the inspiration to paint Noisy Pals. From acrylic and polyurethane on canvas comes his collection of large, uniform personalities. Telling a similar story, this group of caricatures form a collection of interpretations of the characters of today. Vibrant and expressive, these lovable interpretations of the modern persona prove hedonistic above all.

Mario Picardo samples from the urban landscape to paint his perspective of the emerging world. Collecting photos, videos and experiences via iPhone, he aims to create imagery that truly represents his perspective of the “now”. However, his work cannot be considered a mere reproduction of what he’s seen and collected: in the serenity of his studio, the painter dedicates his energy to express the signs of the city on large canvas through his purposefully abbreviated perspective. His unique use of shapes and materials stem from a childhood of practicality and innovation. Years spent on his father’s truck, and traveling workshop, has trained his eye to repurpose and optimize. He now spends his time transforming his experiences into graphic, succinct, abstract paintings.
