Sculpture has a way of being a performance, you cannot take it all in by standing still and looking at it like a TV screen, you must move around to gather its every shape and form. It also holds a presence, it is something, a tangible material that you might want to touch or feel. In this way sculpture holds an idea or feeling made out of a material that in itself; is something you must walk around to admire.

The works on view will be four sculptures that inhabit the space on a human scale. Four sculptures made mostly of raw materials that can be seen for what they are, transformed out of context from their usual architectural musings. Raphael Taylor uses drop ceiling tiles made of mineral fiber, is compressed through rollers and veneered to its surrounding walls and space. Carla Edwards ‘Re-Rope’ a knotted VIP stanchion rope that has been dyed and encased in wax- pulls on itself -holding a new woven form which removes and amplifies is original function. Jason Peters’s light sculpture made of fluorescent tubing suspended and linked together forming a octahedron of white light casting an eerie sci-fi glow. While Christopher Hanrahan’s steel rods are suspended gracefully and precariously with rare earth magnets- almost forming an invisible space between its own material and the material it touches.
