Gregor Gleiwitz

Acme is pleased to present Faun's fount, a solo exhibition of new paintings by Berlin based artist Gregor Gleiwitz. Exhibiting in Europe since 2008, this is Gleiwitz's first exhibition in the United States.

Gleiwitz's works hover somewhere between abstraction and figuration, almost recognizable and yet somehow just beyond the realm of reality. Each painting is titled according to the date on which it was made, and is each made within a day. Simple yet complex, each painting starts from a position of abstraction, and slowly with each fluid brushstroke and strange mark, mysterious forms are revealed, without ever fully giving into figuration.

Gregor Gleiwitz (b. 1977) received his MA from the Kunstakademie Münster under Mechtild Frisch. Recent exhibitions include the Zeppelin Museum, Friedrichshafen; NAMproject, Milan; Anna Schmitt, Düsseldorf; Setareh Gallery, Düsseldorf; HUS Gallery, London; among others.
