Bert de Beul

In his first exhibition at Pied-à-terre, paintings by Belgian artist Bert de Beul (b. 1961) are on display: enigmatic and strangely familiar details of architectures, interiors and objects. With his paintings, the artist manifests the expression of spontaneous impressions, of what is quickly and fleetingly seen and perhaps only subconsciously perceived. De Beul captures these ephemeral images in an emphasised blur, as if in a brief intermediate stage that precedes fading.
