Portrait of My Brother is an imaginative room containing time and body tricks, where unlikely objects share space—with inevitable twins. Here: A 90’s Mary Weatherford butterfly collage is pulled in with a 19th century farmer biaude. Across the room—sits a New England chair with colonial decorations from a shop in Korea Town—hung high on hat hooks with a lantern attached. In the window—Spencer Longo has produced a new specific window work. Francine Banda is including a book of her design work, and Copenhagen based Peter Moran a video of cabbages titled ‘Heads Will Roll’. Guatemalan sculptor Noe Echeverria’s bike, and Bay Area painter Alice Cronin’s panoramic brush painting show a beautiful delicacy in a neo-Povera spirit. Zahar Vaks and Jane Parshall contribute new paintings of a lost time. We may find some works demand pairing, like above, while others draw wider constellations of corporeal references or find their absent bodies in common.
