Herb Ritts, Greg Gorman, Matthew Rolston

Three Los Angeles portrait photographers, Herb Ritts, Greg Gorman and Matthew Rolston, are shown side by side through mostly 1980s and early-1990s prints of film, music and fashion figures. The show proposes that their overlapping careers amount to a distinct 'school' of celebrity photography rooted in the city, with Ritts idealizing his subjects, Gorman drawing out intimacy and Rolston staging theatrical fantasy. Silver gelatin, platinum and archival pigment prints are on view.
