Press Release Recipe:

2 tablespoons generated narratives

1 large idiosyncratic logic stream, minced

5 terabytes of mindfulness, compressed

½ cup interpersonal story

1 (28 ounce can) crushed egos

1 (15 oz can) inside joke

1 (6 ounce can) pretend paste

1 tablespoon mundane

½ teaspoon inventions of language

¼ teaspoon ground chaotic memes

½ cup chopped fresh playfulness

Step 1: Turn the computer on

Start with a very blank word file, about 12 point font New Times Roman. Save drafts while you type. Tip: An ounce of words feeds about 5 to 6 people.

Step 2: Add Nouns

Put in a lot of nouns, about 3 tablespoons. If you taste the words, it should taste like language.

Step 3: Add the Inside Joke

Drop in the Inside Joke while you still have the file open and give it a gentle stir.

Step 4: Say it Out Loud

Say it out loud occasionally while you type. Use the time when you are not typing to read it out loud to a friend as a guide.

Step 5: Taste the Final Drafts while Siebren Shakes his head

But watch out — it's hot! Sample these words at about 2 minutes shy of the indicated time. It should be al dente. You'll finish cooking it in the sauce. Tip: "Al dente" means "to the tooth," meaning the words should still have a little bite to it.

Paul McMahon (b. 1950, San Diego, CA) is a musician, artist, writer, producer, curator, minister, and part-time mailman. From 1972-75, he organized over 30 conceptual and performance art shows at Project Inc., his independently run temporary art space in Cambridge, MA. He has played in bands such as Daily Life and A Band, performed parodic routines in shows such as I’m With Stupid at the Kitchen (1977), and duelled one-liner jokes dressed as a giant potato on national TV against Soupy Sales. Select exhibitions including The White Room at White Columns (NYC, 1987); The Pictures Generation, 1974-1984 curated by Douglas Eklund at the Metropolitan Museum (NYC, 2009); All Suffering Soon To End! at Callicoon Fine Arts Gallery (Callicoon, NY, 2009); Stairway to Heaven at Susan Inglett Gallery (NYC, 2010); and Made in Rosendale at Roos Arts (Rosendale, NY, 2011); *eye, heart, unicorn, Bedstock, (NYC, 2018) and he was in a pop-up show at Rental in Easthampton during the summer curated by Kendra Patrick. He has released ten albums of original music, published two books of humor, and performed as the Rock’n’Roll Therapist since 1980. McMahon graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Pomona College in 1972 and received an MS in Art Education from Mass. College of Art in 1975. He is the proprietor of the Mothership, an everything center in Woodstock, NY, where he lives and works with his twin daughters.
