With her colourful and humorous paintings, ceramics, films and rituals, the artist provides an alternative mental and physical space out of the harsh urban jungle. The exhibition addresses people of all ages and offers a soft landing into spring, despite the turbulences that have been happening since winter.

Irene Fernandéz Arcas describes the "Inner Jungle" as "a utopian inner shelter, a refuge, perhaps full of light, landscape memories or simply an imaginary place. We can all create such inner spaces with very little resources – even children, no special learning is needed. If you create an inner jungle and move there, you will find everything you are looking for, such as peace or relaxation."

The altar is a vital design element in Fernández Arcas's installations in general, and in the "Inner Jungle" in particular. Here, the exhibition space is transformed into a tangible soft space where there is room for both mourning and relief, or even a sense of bodily dissolution. There is an altar, not a religious one, but a site that holds a lot of beauty and healing energies.

As much as painting and ceramics mean to her, for Irene Fernández Arcas, collaboration with others is the highest form of art. With the exhibition "Inner Jungle", she is attempting to unfold a "Gesamtkunstwerk", a total work of art, in cooperation with a number of co-creators and the team at Galerie Wedding. Various events will accompany the exhibition: Yoggaton at the opening, a guided tour by the artist and curator, a reading and ritual as well as flamenco for the Gallery Weekend, kids' dance on the square in front of the town hall, and a concert at the finissage. Irene Fernández Arcas comments on the colourful, enveloping exhibition of paintings: "The spaces I create are materialisations of our inner jungle. They are spaces to exist otherwise, pure and in the moment."

Die Künstlerin bietet mit farbenfrohen und humorvollen Gemälden, Keramiken, Filmen und Ritualen einen alternativen mentalen und physischen Raum zu dem rauen Großstadtdschungel. Die Ausstellung spricht Menschen in jeden Alters an und bietet ein sanftes Ankommen im Frühling, trotz der Turbulenzen, die sich seit Winter ereignen.

Irene Fernandéz Arcas beschreibt den "Inner Jungle“ (Innerer Dschungel) als „ein utopischer innerer Schutzraum, ein Zufluchtsort, vielleicht voller Licht, Landschaftserinnerungen oder einfach ein imaginärer Ort. Wir alle können solche inneren Räume mit sehr wenig Mitteln schaffen – auch Kinder, es ist kein spezielles Lernen nötig. Wenn man sich einen inneren Dschungel schafft und dorthin bewegt, findet man alles, was man sucht, z. B. Ruhe oder Entspannung“.

Der Altar ist ein zentrales Gestaltungsmittel in Fernández Arcas Installationen, auch im "Inneren Dschungel". Hier verwandelt sich der Ausstellungsort in einen physisch weichen Raum, in dem es sowohl Platz für Trauer als auch für Erleichterung oder gar körperliche Auflösung gibt. Es gibt einen Altar, keinen religiösen, aber einen Ort, der eine Menge Schönheit und heilende Energien in sich vereint.

So viel ihr die Malerei und Keramik auch bedeutet, für Irene Fernández Arcas ist die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen die höchste Form der Kunst. Mit der Ausstellung "Inner Jungle" versucht sie mit einer Reihe von Mitgestalter*innen sowie dem Team der Galerie Wedding ein Gesamtkunstwerk zu entfalten. Zahlreiche Veranstaltungen werden die Ausstellung begleiten: Yoggaton zur Eröffnung, Künstlerin/Kuratorinnenn-Führung, Lesung und Ritual sowohl als Flamenco zum Gallery Weekend, Kindertanz auf dem Rathausvorplatz, und ein Konzert als Finissage. Irene Fernández Arcas erklärt zur farbenprächtigen, einladenden Ausstellung umhüllender Malerei : „Die von mir geschaffenen Räume sind Materialisierungen unseres inneren Dschungels. Es sind Räume, um anders zu existieren, rein und im Moment."
