More from Fabian Treiber on Gallop

Fabian Treiber (b. 1986, Ludwigsburg, DE) presents his fourth solo exhibition It’s Not Late It’s Only Dark at Ruttkwoski;68 in New York.

Interiors and landscapes fill the canvases. In a process of mutual incitement, Treiber engages with the evolving color tones, forms, lineatures and layers as autonomous partners. In this new body of work, external elements that elude the artist’s control, enrich the dialogue through immersive nuances. Taking up the spaces provided naturally by the motifs, they become present as fragments of figures and gestures. Materializing a static moment in the continuity of time, hands indicate tangible points in time as culminations of simultaneity.

In the appropriation of space, microcosms evolve, that facilitate new contexts in interplay within and throughout their neighboring sceneries. Rather than linearity, they propose an ambiguity of diametrical interpretations of what can be perceived and what remains as hidden tracks.

It’s not late it’s only dark immediately immerses us into a realm of diffuse temporality conveyed through color, light and atmosphere. By challenging dualities of the seen and unseen, of the composition as a whole and its autonomous parts, the speculative reality of the works guides towards new directions, demanding a resonance that transcends impetuous impressions.
