Tomato House is delighted to present "Belly of the Beast", an immersive installation/performance experience created by Laura Perez-Harris. The opening performance takes place during the opening reception.

For her first solo gallery exhibtion Renaissance Woman Laura Perez-Harris has pulled out all the stops. The work takes the form of a journey that must be undertaken, through the looking glass, into the artwork itself- an expedition into the interior, biological and subconscious which each visitor must undertake alone. While the gallery is not in a position to speculate what each visitor may encounter on their trip within the belly, it is promised that all who enter will be seen to leave.

From ceramics and soft-sculpture to video and performance, "Belly of the Beast" employs an unlimited and eclectic range of materials and techniques to create a unified work that seeks to confront the viewers repressed anxieties.

Laura Perez-Harris is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. A multidisciplinary artist, Perez-Harris is known for her comics and zines and performs with the band Gun Tit. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is in the collection of the Smithsonian National Museum.
