Marinac’s Time In New York

More from Devon Marinac on Gallop
In the spring of 2023, Devon Marinac came to New York to show his work at Van Der Plas gallery. During what became two exhibitions, Marinac spent several months living in New York, in Brooklyn and the Lower East Side of Manhattan. As the city heated up, Devon worked, creating many new paintings that are now on display in the Van Der Plas showroom. With his vibrant palette and busy lines that never stop moving, scenes of the wilds of New York, of triumph and wanting emerge for the viewer that ripen from a signature hand at the helm of a keen intellect and wry sense of humor. The colors that come through light up the gallery, especially when paired with Doug Group (aka Clown Soldier) and his large Donald Duck painting, Juan Carlos Pinto’s bright mosaic collage pieces, Jason McLean’s acrylic drawings on paper, a warm Scot Borofsky abstraction and Susan Day’s brilliant new sculptures. All of these artists make a wonderful showing as the edges of the outside for what is new are peeled back to reveal these fine artworks inviting you to get lost in their glow.
