Gern en Regalia is pleased to present A Weave of One, a solo exhibition of works on paper by New York-based artist and activist Ben Morea.
On view are three different series and chapters of Morea’s work: “String Theory” and “Tantra,” created in the early ‘00s and '90s, and “Cosmic Wave,” a new body of paintings. All three have never been shown before.
Morea sheds decadence and extravagance in favor of the raw material truth. His punk-meets-zen ethos is encapsulated in these meditative works. He refutes the culture of commodity and reminds us that art can co-exist with revolution.
“Creativity is a kind of spiritual act, a profound thing for people to do," he says.
Morea brings to life the visual representation of total or living revolution, which involves continual transformation of everything, from what you eat, what you listen to, and what you create.
