Kubra Khademi

Afghan-born, Paris-based artist Kubra Khademi has her first solo show in Berlin, built around the gouache series Women in Simple Situations. The works show women, mostly nude, climbing trees, drinking tea or lying on carpets in a flattened style borrowed from Persian miniature painting, using everyday-looking scenes to comment on freedom, the body and patriarchal society.
