Robert Szot

Robert Szot's fourth solo show with the gallery brings new oil paintings and works on paper built up from layers of color, metal leaf and charcoal. The new canvases use larger forms and more restraint than before, and the show centres on three 74-inch-high paintings, High Looks, Arcadia and August Complex, with Arcadia stretching over eight feet wide. Szot leaves scraped, buried and weathered passages visible, so each surface shows its own history.
