AWHRHWAR is pleased to present a series of new work by Lauren Anderson. Not for the purpose of repulsion but the purpose of humoring. Anderson’s work considers the life cycle of paintings as sculptures, Allowing for multiple states for works to exist. Strategically empowering the wobbly fan. If you are nameless, you can't shout as loudly, or flip over a bunch of craft-service tables.

As it is in the studio, as it travels, as it arrives to a new location. In each state there can be a changing of horses midstream, some sort of unconventional subject with conventional materials or conventional subject with unconventional materials, each new variant carrying a trace of the previous until the final state echoes current and past selves.

The really really big bag, and maybe it will be full of basketballs. Beginning as lightweight monochrome sculptures paintings are constructed in the studio, reproduced in near scale photographs, recast with with plaster, missed the canyon and ended up in the uncanny valley. All the parts that make up a whole, all the supplies, all the ding dongs.

Lauren Anderson holds an MFA from Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College and lives and works in Upstate New York.
