Sayre Gomez

François Ghebaly is proud to present Sayre Gomez's debut exhibition at the gallery's New York space.

Sayre Gomez (b. 1982, Chicago, USA) holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. Gomez uses hyperreal painting techniques to address themes of representation and visuality. His paintings, sculptures, and videos adopt the visual vernacular of Los Angeles, drawing on the postmodern mashup of urban sprawl, car culture, and natural beauty inherent to contemporary L.A. His works are held in the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Los Angeles; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Arsenal Contemporary, Montreal; the Rubell Family Collection, Miami; among others. Sayre Gomez lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
