Alyse Ronayne

Culture Room is pleased to present Marbo - an exhibition of new work by Alyse Ronayne. The title, Marbo, comes from the misinterpreted marble. The misinterpretation may occur from a Southern accent or a muffed ear; the information is received stylistically beside itself. Using this result as a conceptual starting point, Ronayne has developed a series of collages and sculptures that both composite and misinterpret her past work. Influenced by how the documentation of artwork is archived on a computer and primarily seen on a screen thereafter, Ronayne has reprinted, recreated and recontextualized existing pieces by combining them with materials and structures she’s using presently. The result is an aggregate of time, material and intention.
