Matthew Marks is pleased to present Cats & Apples, the next exhibition in his gallery.
The exhibition centers on two motifs that artists have been depicting for centuries: Cats & Apples. Spanning over one hundred years and a wide range of media—including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and video—the exhibition features work by fourteen artists. The featured artists draw inspiration from a variety of sources including art historical tropes such as the memento mori or Ingres’s bathers, 1960s cartoons, and their own childhood memories.
