More from Franklin Williams on Gallop
Parker Gallery is proud to participate in Art Basel’s second edition of Online Viewing Rooms with a solo presentation by Franklin Williams (b. 1940 in Ogden, UT; lives and works in Petaluma, CA), a critical yet underrepresented Bay Area figure whose work defies the parameters of the Funk, Nut, Visionary and Pattern & Decoration movements. The works on view range from 1965 to 1975, highlighting a rich period of material and conceptual experimentation within the artist’s oeuvre. Forgoing the dominant trends of abstract expressionism and figuration espoused by Northern California artists at the time, Williams developed a deeply personal and idiosyncratic approach to art-making that has come to define his broader practice.
Concurrent to the online viewing room, a version of our presentation will be available to view in person in a physical booth installed in the backyard at Parker Gallery, on view daily from 10am-6pm, through June 26. Please tap "Make an appointment" above to schedule your visit.
