Dominique Knowles

Augusta Hoffman Studio and Hoffman Donahue present an installation within de Gournay’s Paris apartment, with new works by Dominique Knowles for the artist’s debut exhibition in Paris.

Dominique Knowles’s deeply personal paintings explore intimacy, memory, grief, and the relationship between humans and the natural world. Raised in the Bahamas, his lifelong connection to horses informs his atmospheric, gestural paintings. His work draws on art historical traditions of religious painting and the sublime, transforming personal experiences of love and loss into meditations on care, devotion, and the spiritual possibilities of painting. He currently lives and works in Brussels with his horse, Hewing.
