When you see a boulder, you know it's been placed there. This is true, whether in a Japanese garden, in a manor in some Italian villa, or as an oversized doorstop.
O'Flaherty's is very excited to *finally* present The Pillow Book by Anthea Hamilton. Coming from Britain, she is slow to pick up the phone. When we talk, she talks about pajamas, sleep, and indecision. She's also full of drama. According to the website, Rotten Tomatoes, The Devils (a Ken Russell film image that lines the walls) is one of the most controversial horror films of all time. She also talks about the priority of intentionality; and the ability of implication.
The floors are, well... we can't tell you yet until you see the show. But they were expensive.
Anthea Hamilton (b. 1978) is a British artist who graduated from the Royal College of Art. She was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2016. Anthea is the first black woman to do a commission for the Tate. Her work has also been exhibited at Sculpture Center, Studio Voltaire, Serpentine and most recently M HKA in Antwerp. This is her first US solo show in a gallery.
