Pact is pleased to present Effacement, a solo exhibition by Olivier Mosset.
Bringing together two monumental paintings, Yellow stripe (1989) and Swiss Coffee (2002), the exhibition stages a face-to-face between the persistence of a sign and its near disappearance.
A central figure of European and American conceptual painting, Mosset has spent decades reducing the image to its most elementary conditions: color, surface, scale, title, decision. In Effacement, this reduction becomes a form of intensity. The painting withdraws, but the question remains sharper: what still makes a painting when almost everything has been removed?
