Part of The Invisible Dog’s annual exhibition of its 23 resident artists, Oblique Strategies highlights the objects that jumpstart the creative process. Showcased alongside the final artworks they inspired—and with 23 different origin stories, Oblique Strategies culminates in an eclectic showcase of the artists at 51 Bergen St.
Oblique Strategies is named after Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt’s 1975 deck of cards intended to help artists through creative blocks by offering aphorisms such as, “Don’t be afraid of things because they are easy to do” and “Remove specifics and convert to ambiguities”.
