More from Harry Davies on Gallop
Ulrik is pleased to present Drainaage, Harry Davies’s debut solo exhibition in New York. The show comprises paintings made in the past two years. They share a common figure: the pipe. Oil on linen, many works also include tape and laser printed photos taken by the artist.
The title comes from the famous closing monologue in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2007 film “There Will Be Blood.” An oil tycoon explains the term drainage to a preacher using a milkshake metaphor for resource extraction, before bludgeoning him to death with a bowling pin.
