Karen Shiozawa

Japanese painter Karen Shiozawa, born in 1998, has her first solo exhibition in Hong Kong. Her oil paintings are built from layers of paint that she scrapes back and scratches into, so bright colour seems to glow from beneath a darker surface. Windmills, arches and church spires from her Dutch childhood recur as she looks at where outer light meets the light of memory and feeling.
