JLG Projects presents Tending the Wild, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Karolina Maszkiewicz. Exploring the dialogue between geometry and organic growth, this exhibition brings together a new series of ceramic sculptures alongside Maszkiewicz's signature kinetic mobiles. Drawing inspiration from nature, gardens, and architectural structures, Tending the Wild investigates the delicate balance between found and formed. The kinetic mobiles begin with the act of gathering, a process shaped by Maszkiewicz's relationships with the landscapes of Hawaii and California. She collects botanical elements from her surroundings, preserving some seed pods in their natural state while metal-plating others. Suspended within delicate compositions, these materials respond to air, light, and gravity. In dialogue, the ceramic sculptures recreate organic forms in clay, transforming a material drawn from the earth into branching, coiling structures that echo the rhythms of living plants. Together, these works forge an imagined landscape where looping stems, roots, vessels, and geometric frameworks exist in delicate equilibrium. Reflecting on cultivation as a practice of care rather than control, Tending the Wild considers transformation as an ongoing process, one that investigates how structures that offer stability and belonging can simultaneously act as sites of growth and change.

Karolina Maszkiewicz (b. Toruń, Poland) is a Polish-born American artist based in Los Angeles. She received a BFA in Fashion Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland, before relocating to the United States, where she expanded her practice to sculpture. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at institutions and galleries including Jane Lombard Gallery, New York; Ochi, Los Angeles; ÆRENA Galleries and Gardens, Santa Fe; and G/ART/EN, Como, Italy.
