25 Allen St is delighted to present our inaugural group exhibition, New York...Now! in conjunction with the unveiling of our brand new gallery space and events venue.

Curated by Saam Niami and Gabrielle Richardson, this exhibition is an exploration of the impact, purpose, and influence of artists processes.

The gallery is located on the ground floor of a two-story building in the Lower East Side which includes a spacious loft on the second floor to be utilized for exhibition programming which will feature the reading of a new play by Broadway playwright Max Wolf Friedlich and a reading of a new play by Kit Zauhar, among a few other events to be announced during the run of the exhibition.

New York... Now! begs the answer to many endless questions rooted in: what is to create if not to survive? To make meaning out of that which ails us? To love and love again, the meditation of the self? The work in this show, featuring various media such as painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, and installations, are the results of the curators’ asking of the artists to meditate on their relationship with their work and what their creative processes mean to them.

With our debut group exhibition, New York...Now!, us curators, artists, patrons, and friends wish to show a city that has held onto itself for comfort. In the aftermath of the pandemic, in the midst of economic instability and international turmoil, as the impossibly powerful have worked to strip us all of our sovereignty, we have stayed planted in this city that we love. This work is the fruit of that love.

Saam Niami is a writer, curator, and filmmaker living in New York. His work is focused around culture as it relates to community and history. He has made documentary films about New York culture and has written about art and culture for publications such as The New York Times, Elephant Magazine, Hyperallergic, New York Magazine, 032c, Interview Magazine, and more. He served as the arts editor for office magazine and has worked in curation since 2019.

Gabrielle Richardson is a model, artist and freelance curator based between NYC and LA. Her work is focused on highlighting and sharing the narratives of artists of color and queer artists. She has curated exhibitions in collaboration with North Face, Dazed, and Nike has been featured in I-D, Vogue and Paper Magazine for her curatorial work.
