Good Books is pleased to present a new presentation of Roni Horn's books, ephemera, and multiples at the bookshop. Bringing together nearly sixty publications, this selection offers an entry point into the artist's practice while highlighting her enduring engagement with language and text. Water occupies a central place in this regard. Androgynous, at once a mirror and an opaque surface, it is a recurring motif that runs through many of the publications presented in the bookshop. Through this elusive figure, Horn seeks to resist interpretive closure and explores the processes of metamorphosis that shape us.

Roni Horn lives and works in New York and Maine. BFA, Rhode Island School of Design, 1972–1975; MFA, Yale University, 1976–1978. Solitary travels in Iceland: from 1975, 1979–2015. Over the years Horn has developed a multidisciplinary practice; including photo installation, sculpture, drawing, artist's books, and writing. The conceptually driven work engages, among other things, the fluid essence of identity, the pervasive and fundamental reality of paradox, and the importance of the experiential in place and art. Repetition, pairing, doubling, and nuance come up frequently in the work. Since 1975, Horn's frequent solitary travels in Iceland have been a central influence in the work. Similarly, literature, journalism, and writing in general play their role as well, sometimes employing the written word as a medium.
