W. Rossen

This week at Wschód: a solo exhibition of new works by W. Rossen at Wschód NYC, a Freemasonry-meets-rave experience by Gregor Różański at Hotel Warszawa Art Fair, and a haunting attic-themed solo show by Cudelice Brazelton IV at Barbara Wien in Berlin.

"Rossen draws on painterly traditions, depicting seemingly historical settings, yet always ensuring that objects protrude. Elements that find their way into the paintings often allude to the aspect of vision and the distortion or enhancement of visual perception through the use of lenses. Rossen constructs moments of optical effects while simultaneously reflecting them back to us, highlighting the psychology of vision and the culturally determined nature of processing visual infor- mation. Suddenly, motifs emerge at the bottom of a bottle or on a paved sidewalk."
