Gallery Simon

Gallery Simon has created a new exhibition space in Tongui-dong, Seoul. This is the site of Changui Palace where King Yeongjo (1694 ~ 1776), the 21st King of Joseon, lived when he was a young prince. Yeongjo had carried out the anti-corruption law to relieve the rage of faction from the beginning of accession to the throne. He had also established new taxation system to lessen the burden of the people and abolished the severe punishment, and solved political, economic and social problems. It was a reign of peace during King Yeongjo's 52 years rule. Even though Changui Palace had destroyed through Japanese colonial era, Gallery Simon has newly started at this place that has significant historical and cultural meanings.
