Atrata

Villa Atrata is a site for exhibitions, research, residencies for artists and writers, a collaborative project focusing on contemporary art and master crafts. Advocating for a more measured approach to contemporary creation, its activities are based on the southern edge of the Loire Valley and its Paris extension, located in the Jardin du Palais Royal.

Founded in Angles-sur-l’Anglin by Gil Presti, Villa Atrata is deeply intertwined with the river Anglin and the Middle-Age chapel, which appears as an enigmatic fragmented architecture carefully repurposed for viewing art in direct contact with nature.

Taking its name from the painting in Francis Picabia’s Transparences series, Villa Atrata becomes a sign of what lies outside the realm of normal expectations.
