Marc Straus Annex

The gallery's unique perspective is deeply rooted in the vision of its eponymous founder, Marc Straus. A poet, writer, and former Professor of Medicine and Chair of Oncology at New York Medical College, Straus practiced medical oncology for 35 years before fully dedicating himself to the gallery. His approach to the market is heavily influenced by his decades as a deeply engaged collector of contemporary art, supporting artists at the earliest stages of their careers. His personal collection has been the subject of 13 museum exhibitions. In 2002, he and his wife, Livia, founded Hudson Valley MOCA in Peekskill, NY - a multicultural, economically challenged small city that has since undergone a renaissance as an arts destination.
