Nate Antolik

"A few years ago I started drawing people on the subway while on my way to work. It started out as a way to practice. I would lock onto something– a face, legs, someone’s shoe. To draw someone, you have to stare. Sometimes they notice, but I try not to disturb them. I like how people look on the train; they are between places and for a few minutes they’re still. Then they get off or it’s my stop and I’m out of time."

MX is pleased to present Nate Antolik's first solo exhibition Subway Drawings. The show features 33 works on paper selected from among hundreds of sketches from his daily practice. An exhibition catalog, designed by the artist, will be available for purchase.

Nate Antolik is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. His work has been included in exhibitions at Rachel Uffner Gallery in New York and at Young Art in Los Angeles.
