Karon Davis

Wishful Thinking is Karon Davis' meditation on the complicated, all too often absent role of the Black figure within the canon of art history. The exhibition presents new life-size, nude sculptures created from body casting friends, muses, and models. Incorporating and expanding upon the classical tradition of sculpture, Davis reconsiders the nude through a contemporary lens. Drawing from visual art, mythology, and theatre from antiquity to the modern era, Davis creates figurative tableaux that reflect on and reimagine Western traditions of representation.
