Kate Werble Gallery is pleased to present Cameron Granger's Doom & Gloom.

How long can you bend a people till they crack under pressure? In his debut solo show at Kate Werble Gallery, Doom & Gloom!! Cameron Granger recasts the history of the rock dove, also known as the common pigeon, as a stage where the cultural scripts and modes that fuel the machinery of American life are brought under scrutiny. Once essential actors in the American Project, now bonafide urban nuisances, in the time since their original smuggling from North Africa and West Asia, pigeons have been everything from food, messengers, CIA assets, “rats with wings”, prospective missile guidance systems, lab subjects, and pets. Doom & Gloom!! Teases out these human/pigeon entanglements through new sculpture and video works that continue the artist’s use of speculative fiction and obfuscated histories to chart a future beyond. All. This.

Cameron A. Granger is an artist from Cleveland, Ohio, and Sandra’s son. An Ohio enthusiast, he makes work about the power structures that shape our cities, and how we make our lives therein. He’s an alumni of Euclid Public Schools & the Studio Museum in Harlem AIR program. Granger has most recently exhibited his work at the Queens Museum and MoMA PS1 in Queens, NY, No Place Gallery in Columbus, Ohio and Jack Shainman’s The School in Kinderhook, NY. in 2022 his film, Before I Let Go took home the awards for Best Experimental and Audience Choice at the BlackStar Film Festival.
