Anna Glantz

Cyclops, Anna Glantz’s first solo exhibition at Foxy Production, comprises a new series of paintings that uses autobiography to meditate on the act of painting and the role of the artist. Glantz produces dream-like compositions whose mythic qualities are disrupted by visual disjunctions and flights of fancy. Recalling a range of visual styles and art historical references, from early Renaissance portraiture to the uncanny paintings of Albert York and sculptures of Charles Ray, the artist pushes representation to its limits, abstracting and undermining the impulse for definition and closure.
